New Free phone Legal Services Offering for Bucks Local Councils

The Buckinghamshire Association of Local Councils, an organisation serving Parish and Town Councils in Bucks, has launched a Legal Services offering in partnership with Buckinghamshire County Council. The service will provide access to law Specialists and Solicitors with direct experience of public law.

The service will provide advice in areas such data protection, litigation, property and employment. The service will also have a new dedicated free-phone number, 0800 389 8376. The initial offer is an annual package of £375 which covers five hours of legal advice. Thereafter the hourly rate is £90 per hour. On launching this service, John Gibbs, CEO, BALC said, “With an ever changing environment, particularly with the imminent arrival of the Localism Bill, Councils need to have an additional
resource, if they take on more services or need help in complex contract negotiations,” he said. Commenting on the launch, Anne Davies, Head of Legal and Democratic Services, Buckinghamshire County Council, said, “The benefit will easily outweigh any investment that Councils make.

It will also provide them with the confidence that our team are not just generalists,they have direct experience of Local Councils. The Buckinghamshire Association of Local Councils is a membership organisation that represents 165 Town and Parish Councils throughout Buckinghamshire. Their President is Sir Henry-Aubrey-Fletcher, HM Lord Lieutenant for Buckinghamshire.
