The Princess Royal to attend NALC Annual Conference
The big announcement this week (aside from the goings-on in Parliament) was that The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, will be attending the NALC Annual Conference on 29 October. I hope you will agree this is amazing news as she will be the highest-profile special guest we’ve ever had at an NALC event. Our chairman, Cllr Sue Baxter, met Princess Anne last year at an event on rural loneliness and isolation, wherein her speech she touched on the important role of local (parish and town) councils in communities. Since then Sue and other colleagues, including vice-chairman (finance) Cllr Keith Stevens, have been working hard behind the scenes to secure her attendance. I think it’s really important we have a good turnout at the conference, so can I encourage county associations and councils to book your places if you haven’t already done so.
