Dear Clerks and Councillors
Clerks Please circulate to your Councillors
I hope you enjoyed your break from my ramblings last week. Whilst I had completed a round trip journey to Gt Yarmouth and home by 2:30 on Friday and was back at my desk by 3:30pm, I was frankly beyond making too much sense and devoted myself instead to the email backlog that I’d built up, much safer!
So where are we? Well just to confirm that the revised timetable dates for the Electoral Boundary review in Buckinghamshire are as follows:
Consultation on draft recommendations begins – 02/08/2022
Consultation on draft recommendations ends – 05/12/2022
Publication of final recommendations – 28/02/2023
I had penned a note to myself to talk about the Energy bill, but I’ve scrapped that idea, I think there may be changes! Have a look at this instead….
Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme: Phase 3b
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has announced that Phase 3b of The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme opened to applications. This will enable public sector bodies (including schools, hospitals and local authorities) to bid for £635m of funding for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures. The scheme supports the aim of reducing emissions from public sector buildings by 75% (compared to 2017) by 2037, as set out in the Heat and Buildings Strategy and Net Zero Strategy. Councils are encouraged to share this information and social media links below as appropriate.

On the local front, the Berryfields to Buckingham Park Greenway opened on the 12 October to the public. The new 1.7km shared use path for walking, cycling and wheeling is part of the Aylesbury Gardenway project.
I asked for shout outs of your local council actions and Wolverton and Green Leys heard me. Weekly drop in session in collaboration with Bar Bar, aiming at the 11-18 year olds and offering free light bites and drinks in a space that is theirs. Plans for an annual firework event, a fabulous Christmas light switch on and a twinning trip to Ploegsteert. With a first success under the belt, their second Christmas Fayre will be in The Square on the 10th and 11th of December. With such a variety, this is a council demonstrating positive impact across a broad demographic. Well done Wolverton and Green Leys. As always, for further info visit their website and let me know if you have a special project we would like to hear about.
Please complete the following linked NALC events survey for the 2023-24 financial year, the survey closes at 23:45 on 4/11/22 – many thanks in advance from NALC for your participation – https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/5BVSPZP .
A few points in closing, please ensure that you open the emails that come in with your attached invoices. We have a number of invoices for subscriptions outstanding which we must collect.
Our new website is live but your old password to the members area will need to be updated, if you haven’t already follow the links you were sent now, rather than wait till you have an urgent need.
Our conference is next week!!! We are looking forward to seeing a lot of you, understandably on Tuesday normal service will be interrupted and we are due to setup on Monday afternoon so you may experience some delays in our usual response times then too. Please bear with us.

Finally, following what has been an exceptionally busy fortnight, we wish you all a relaxed and happy weekend.
Kind regards
Mel, Helen and Lorraine
