Dear Colleagues
Please join me in welcoming Jess! Jess is joining us as the critical third leg in our small team, as we all know, tables with three legs don’t wobble, and Lorraine and I are both excited to have her on board. Jess is already active in our sector, working with a busy parish council. and will be providing us with finance and administrative support.
Exciting news over, an apology from me. I accidentally invited all the MK parishes to the BC Parish Liaison meeting, it could have been worse, I once reminded parents from a boys school to remembers their sons’ willies for the bonfire night celebrations, turns out MS word didn’t know what wellies were and autocorrected! So lovely MK parishes, you are welcome to ignore that invitation, although it might liven things up a little if you chose to attend! BC Parishes looking forward to seeing you next week
Of course, the other thing I had forgotten to do was to attach the AGM draft minutes, so I’ve attached them today alongside an HR bulletin from P.D. Solutions and an agenda for next weeks BC Parish Liaison Meeting. *circulated separately by email*
It’s been a busy week, a bespoke course for one of our Town Councils and The Planning Framework session presented by Lion Planning on Wednesday. BMKALC were also invited to take part in the LGA Bucks Council Peer Review, providing input from a Local Council perspective.
I picked out a few highlights from this weeks NALC newsletter for you.
The Suzy Lamplugh Trust, spoke about their work and the training and support they can offer. Take a look at their website, great information for the whole council and many of the other organisations you work with.
The Martyn’s Law Steering Group held its latest meeting on 30 September 2025, where members reviewed progress since July on raising awareness among parish and town councils to strengthen security culture and discussed possible updates to the third advice note on preparing for the Act
To support the new Assertion 10 in the Annual Governance Statement The Practitioners’ Guide 2025 introduced a new Assertion 10 to the Annual Governance Statement, guidance on council parish and town council email addresses and understanding and preparing to move to a .gov.uk domain, with new guides and assets to follow soon.
Next week we look forward to our BC Parish Liaison, a new finance course for councillors, Aubergines lunchtime Knowledge Bite about Assertion 10 then on Friday, welcoming Paul Hoey, and Monitoring Officer representatives from MKCC and BC to work through some of the Code of Conduct issues we are currently tackling. We’ll be approaching it from a practical perspective, and I expect it to be a highly interactive event!
Don’t forget to keep checking our website for new and exciting events and do add Lorraine@bucksalc.gov.uk so that her updates and invitations don’t land up in your junk mail.
We look forward to seeing and speaking with you soon, until then hold onto your hats, it promises to be a windy weekend.
Kind regards
Mel, Lorraine & Jess
