Dear Members
This week Helen led some of our clerks through making the most of Agenda and Minutes with an in-person training course at Judges Lodgings. The most experienced clerks will tell you that there is a real skill in consistently producing a quality agenda which feeds into the minutes, and we never stop refining and considering if there is a better way to do things. For my part I attended the ICO webinar for Data Practitioners looking at issues affecting FOI’s, data breaches and the new Self-Assessment Toolkit. Regrettably I missed the County Officers Forum this week, but my national cohorts are bringing me up to speed.
Following last week’s BC Parish Liaison we were asked for the details of contractors to maintain Parish owned street lamps and forward these two companies for you to take a look at. There are no plans at this time for BC to adopt T & P streetlamps and even if they were to, the standards would need to in excellent condition.
- Lamps and Tubes Illuminations – Lamps and Tubes Illuminations – specialists in festive and seasonal lighting (ltilluminations.co.uk)
- SparkX – Street lighting contractors & electrical services provider
We were also asked about the Highway safety inspection policy | Buckinghamshire Council, which indicates at which point intervention to repair roads must take place.
You will have received notice from Simon about the BC North / South Clerks Forums and we hope to see many of you attend one of these. They are both the same, go to whichever is more convenient for you both in time and location.
The BC Planning Forum will be meeting in person on the 30th October, please register that you will be attending so that we can ensure sufficient refreshments! As always questions in advance are incredibly helpful, so please forward them to me and we will try and have answers ready.
Next week we have New! Mastering Customer Service For Local Councils July 12th At 10am – In-Person and then on the 18th, New! Resolving & Dealing Effectively With Challenging Situations – July 18th At 10am – Online. We hope to see you.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to speaking with you next week.
Kind regards
Mel, Helen and Lorraine
