Dear Colleagues,
I’m not sure how many councillors this week’s View will reach, but I hope Clerks, you will forward it to both your outgoing Council and your new Council next week. Lorraine and I would like to extend our thanks to those councillors who are retiring. Your contribution to our local government sector will be missed. Sadly we lose experience in every election cycle and the education starts afresh for our new intake. We wish you a peaceful and happy retirement. To those who fought but were not elected, thank you for making it a competitive election, without you there would be no choice for our electors, Don’t be strangers, there will be future opportunities, and, to those who already know, or, will be returned following electoral success on Tuesday, Welcome Back!
NALC have been working with Democracy Club and I have a really interesting summary of this years elections for you to look at The 2025 parish and town elections | Democracy Club. If you follow the page you should see it updated with turnout and results analysis over the coming days.
Lorraine circulated a template for Acceptance of Office and also Declaration of Interests, these are on our website along with some other helpful material for you. You don’t have to use the template, we have provided these because we have been repeatedly asked for them during this electoral process. Lorraine is asking MKCC for a copy of theirs and we are happy to post that too in which case we will change the title to reflect the two authorities, if we can find a link to where you can find the templates on their website, we’ll advertise that too, but remember it is your choice.
You may recall my online attendance at a mock Health and Safety trial and I’m pleased to share a link to the recording, a summary of the finding and the Q&A summary. They will also appear shortly on the website.
Here is the Worknest link to the mock trial on demand: https://worknest.com/apps/access-your-webinar-partner/?doc=https://worknest.com/services/virtual-mock-health-and-safety-criminal-trial-on-demand/?v=BMKALC
Well, I could ramble on but you will have had a busy week and so I’ll save the rest till you we throw open the doors on Tuesday morning. We look forward to speaking with you then. Have a great Bank Holiday weekend, I’ve already had my first braai of the season. Enjoy!
Kind regards
Mel and Lorraine
