As hyper local government evolves to meet the changing needs of their communities, the focus is on increasing community engagement and local representation.
One way to measure local involvement is through voter turnout and the number of individuals running for election.
According to surveys, although people are interested in getting involved, they often don’t know how. This is where the toolkit comes in. The toolkit is designed to assist Parish/Town Councils in running a local campaign and raising awareness of the need for people to become Councillors. It provides detailed information on how to navigate the election process and how to advise someone thinking of becoming a Councillor.
Use this toolkit to promote the role of Parish/Town Councils in the community, highlight the importance of voting, and encourage individuals to stand as future Councillors.
This Elections Toolkit has been adapted with kind permission from our colleagues at GAPTC.
