Code of Conduct Civility & Respect Seminar – September 7th at 10am – In-person
With Paul Hoey & Natalie Ainscough
Hoey Ainscough Associates Ltd work fulltime in supporting councils on Code of Conduct issues. They were local government advisers to the Committee on Standards in Public Life for their 2019 review of the Localism Act and were commissioned by the LGA to produce the model Code of Conduct and supporting guidance and by NALC and SLCC to produce supporting documents for the Civility and Respect Project.
In this session Paul Hoey will reflect on why civility and respect lies at the heart of good governance and the damage that can be caused to councils when respect and trust break down. He will reflect on both national and local cases of bullying and what lessons can be learnt by the sector and what he believes needs to happen nationally if the sector is to be supported properly in challenging poor behaviour and promoting effective governance
