The tabling of written reports to accompany agenda items is a standard method of ensuring that councillors not only take fully informed decisions, but also that there is an audit trail showing that they have acted properly when taking decisions.
Whether you are interested in refining your report writing skills or for those whom reports are, or will become, integral to their role.
This session will cover:
Preparing the Report
Defining the purpose, setting the objectives, investigate the topic, thinking about the reader
Report Sections
Title or title page, contents, executive summary, introduction, discussions/body/Investigation, summary and conclusions, recommendations
Layout
Numbering sections and figures, diagrams, graphs and tables, headings
Proof-reading
Originality and plagiarism, business English, punctuation, grammar
This one hour training is delivered by Patricia Marks and places are limited.
Online: A Zoom invitation will be issued to attendees in advance of the training session.
Members: £25 per ticket
Non-members: £45 per ticket
Cancellation: A full refund will be given if 14 days or more notice prior to the date of the training course is given. However, this could cause an event to be cancelled if it becomes uneconomic to run.
