This practical, hands‑on session focuses on ensuring your council has the correct compliance measures in place and understands its responsibilities under UK GDPR and other relevant legislation. Whether you are new to CCTV governance or need a compliance refresher, this session provides the clarity and confidence you need.

What the Session Covers

• Understanding the Law & Practicalities of CCTV
• A clear explanation of the legislation governing CCTV, what councils must consider before installation, and the day‑to‑day responsibilities that follow.
• Completing a CCTV Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA)
• Step‑by‑step guidance on how to complete a DPIA, including the practical knowledge and skills required to complete the form correctly and confidently.
• Conducting a Legitimate Interest Assessment (LIA)
• If your council uses Legitimate Interest as the lawful basis for operating CCTV, we will guide you through the LIA process, with examples of how to document your reasoning appropriately.
