The Six Characteristics of a High‑Performing Council – 2nd of September Online at 6.30pm

Foundations, objectives, trust, Communication, Effective Meetings, & Recognition

High‑performing councils don’t happen by chance, they are built on strong foundations, clear purpose, and effective ways of working together. This practical and thought‑provoking training explores the six essential characteristics that underpin successful, confident and resilient councils.

Designed for councillors and officers at all stages, the session focuses on strengthening the building blocks of good governance while improving relationships, decision‑making and outcomes for the communities you serve. Participants will examine how clear foundations and shared objectives set the direction for success, how trust and open communication create a positive council culture, and how effective meetings lead to better decisions and efficient use of time.

The training also highlights the importance of recognition, valuing contributions, celebrating progress and sustaining motivation as a key driver of long‑term performance. Through practical examples and reflective discussion, attendees will gain insights they can immediately apply within their own council.

This session is ideal for councils seeking to improve teamwork, enhance professionalism, and build a stronger, more collaborative and higher‑performing approach to local leadership.
