Job Title: Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer
Vacancy from: February 2026
Hours: Currently 40-50 hours per month
Salary in accordance with NJC scale (NJC 18-21) (£16.35 -17.18 per hour) depending on experience.
Launton Parish Council is seeking a highly motivated, proactive individual for the role of Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO). This is an exciting opportunity and would suit a community-minded individual who has the relevant experience to undertake an interesting and varied post within an active Parish Council.
The role requires someone with the confidence and interpersonal skills to deal with a wide range of individuals from the local and wider communities. The ideal candidate will have good verbal and written communication skills, be computer literate and also have the ability to work on their own initiative. Strong financial management and organisational skills are required, together with a positive outlook.

The parish of Launton is a village and lies on the eastern outskirts of Bicester, Oxfordshire. There are approximately 1,152 residents on the electoral roll, with a precept of £51,592. There are currently 5 Parish Councillors, with vacancies for a further 2, and they all take an active role in Council business. They all take pride in discharging their collective responsibilities in a thoughtful and considered manner.
Selection Criteria
Preference is likely to be given to those with previous Clerk experience and the CiLCA qualification – however consideration would be given to an otherwise suitable applicant who is deemed to have the potential to obtain the CiLCA qualification.
