Code of Conduct for Councillors – 6.30pm – online
*This training session is geared for both Councillors and Clerks at Parish & Town Councils in Buckinghamshire*
Delivered by the Monitoring Officer from Buckinghamshire Council and designed to navigate what can be an uncomfortable aspect of the role.
This course aims to help you avoid some of the difficulties that can arise. It is also useful to gain a better understanding of the expectation of behaviours that your Code of Conduct requires of you. From time to time complaints are received by residents about Councillor conduct and the Monitoring Officer of Buckinghamshire Council has a statutory duty to deal with complaints that sometimes arise against Town and Parish Councillors in Buckinghamshire. There are detailed arrangements for dealing with those complaints. The Monitoring Officer seeks to resolve those informally wherever possible, but more serious complaints can involve an investigation, the involvement of an independent person and a hearing before the Standards Committee of Buckinghamshire Council.
