Ready to meet the challenges of 2023 head on

Happy New Year!  I trust you have returned refreshed and revived, ready to meet the challenges of 2023 head on.

Free January training commences next week.  The most popular courses were snapped up quickly but there are still places available on our other courses and I urge you to click on the link at the bottom of this page to take a look at what is available.  Also this year will see a number of community events taking place so we would like to support you with some specific training on March 9th, find all the details on planning and hosting a Community Event and take a look at the LGA article too for further general information.

Sometimes, legislation leaves us short on practical implementation of the rules, however 10,000 councils between them offer some great best practice examples.  We hope over the future to introduce some of these to you through the medium of Good Practice Notes.  There won’t be many, we have so much info available from NALC and SLCC already and you may still want to take note of your local variations.  One we are asked for often, is a Chair’s script for the start of meetings and this is our first.  We will also convert the Councillors Aide Memoire and one for Chair of Councils too.

The Buckinghamshire Council Parish Liaison Forum will be on the 1st March 2023 commencing at 18:30, the link has been forwarded to all clerks.

Now for some central Government Updates….

·     New funding for defibrillators

·       Funding to develop local walking and cycling

With that I shall leave you to a peaceful weekend, decorations are hopefully safely stowed away, and eventually your home will once again be glitter and needle free!  We look forward to seeing soon.

Kind regards

Mel, Helen and Lorraine
